NEED-BASED SCHOLARSHIP

 

The Georgia Association of Special Programs Personnel (GASPP) is pleased to announce the 2015 Need-Based Scholarship competition.  TRiO participants are invited to compete for two (2) scholarship awards of $700.00 each.  These awards may be used to help defray postsecondary education cost during the 2016-2017 school year.  Sponsors of applicants MUST be current GASPP financial members.  Each program is eligible to submit ONE application per project.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Please Note:

  • Incomplete applications will not be considered and will not be returned.

  • Institutions/agencies that submit more applications than stated above from the same program will be disqualified.       

 

Applications will be judged and rated in the following areas:

  • Application Face Sheet

  • Essay (content, grammar, format, etc

  • Two (2) Recommendation letters

  • Financial Need (Each applicant MUST submit verification of income or family income)

 

Winners will be announced by April 8, 2016. 

 

In order to receive the scholarship, sponsors must verify students’ enrollment in a post-secondary institution in September 2016.  Award checks will be mailed by November 30, 2016, and made payable to the student.  The post-marked deadline for all materials is April 8, 2016. Only online applications will be accepted. An e-mail confirmation will be sent for all completed applications on or before the deadline.

ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS
 

The Georgia Association of Special Programs Personnel (GASPP) is pleased to announce the 2016 Academic Scholarship Competition. TRiO participants are invited to compete for six (6) scholarship awards in the amount of $700.00 each. Each program is eligible to submit two (2) applications.

 

 

 

 

 

General Requirements for Academic Scholarship Award ApplicantsEach applicant MUST:

1. Have participated in one of the federally funded TRiO programs located in Georgia during the twelve (12) month period immediately preceding the deadline date for filing this application.

 

2. Complete in its entirety and submit this official application, and all required materials postmarked or hand delivered by April 8, 2016 at 5:00PM. Applications received after April 8, 2016 will not be considered. Please submit applications to:

3. Be a high school senior with a 2.8 or higher cumulative grade point average (Upward Bound and Educational Talent Search), OR be a freshman, sophomore or junior in college with a 2.5 or higher grade point average. College seniors many apply only if they are planning to enroll in graduate school in the ensuing fall term. Please note: An applicant who is not currently enrolled in school must have met the criteria listed herein at the school last attended, or the applicant must have scored an average of at least fifty (50) on the General Education Development (GED) test.

 

4. Be sponsored/recommended by a staff member of the project in which the applicant participates. Please note: The staff member MUST be a current financial member of GASPP.5. Have a high school registrar (pre-college registrant) or college registrar (adult learner) submit an official transcript which lists all courses taken through the first semester of 2015, or the applicant must submit verification of having obtained a GED.

 

6. Submit two (2) letters of recommendation on the official recommendation form or on official letterhead. One letter MUST be from the sponsoring TRiO staff member. The other MUST come from a school official (teacher, counselor, principal/president, dean etc…). Another project staff member may provide the second letter if the applicant is not currently enrolled in high school or college.

 

Scholarship winners will receive the award amount by November 30, 2016. Checks will be mailed after verification of enrollment by the sponsoring project director or coordinator.

 

Winners will be announced by May 27, 2016.
